MELANGE

19X24X.3"
ACRYLIC AND ENAMEL ON WOOD
$900
I HAD FUN DOING THIS PAINTING WITH TOTAL ABANDON ON WHERE MY BRUSH, PALETTE KNIFE OR FINGER WANDERED.

MERRIAM-WEBSTER HAS ABOUT FIFTY SYNONYMS FOR MELANGE, BUT MY FAVORITE IS GALLIMAUFRY, DERIVED FROM A FRENCH WORD FOR A STEW OR HODGEPODGE.

CRITIC'S COMMENTS:

"Your creativity and passion for exploring different techniques and styles are evident in your artwork. What immediately catches my attention is the stunning choice of colors and the depth created through distinct brush strokes. Your use of a bold red background is particularly emotive and evocatively sets a dramatic and spirited tone for the rest of the piece. Your fluid application of the paint, varying between thick layers and thin traces, nurtures a sense of movement within the canvas. This technique endows your piece with a dynamic quality, which is a significant strength of your work. As an observer, one feels compelled to follow the strokes, almost as if dancing along with the melodies they seem to represent.Subtle yet striking, the squares of yellow paint emerging amidst the swirls and splatters wonderfully offset the abstraction with geometric precision. This harmonious blending of different shapes, both freeform and structured, adds an appealing complexity to your work. The presence of paint drips creates a raw, authentic feel, evoking a sense of spontaneity and intimate engagement."
